please be constructive if you can. anger and annoyance are certainly valid, but we don’t make changes like this for fun. we are trying to improve the platform. it may be hard to see that, i know. the constructive feedback about it feeling claustrophobic / too visually overwhelming are things we can improve upon, for example. i think some folks have already pointed out a few bugs and inconsistencies which we hadn’t caught yet. that’s all very useful.
and there is no guarantee either way that we’ll be stuck with it “forever” – that’s exactly why we run these experiments.
The more nonconstructive feedback we get, the harder it is to see the constructive feedback.
“I don’t want this” can be constructive too, but if it’s written in a way that’s intended to bully or harass, the likelihood that it will be read or even counted drops dramatically.

and then I spent literaly five seconds thinking about what made me recoil. I realized it was because I missed the white space around the posts. I also realized I’d feel better if the left tab was smaller or collapsible, so that’s what I wrote on my post.
saying just ARGH I HATE TUMLBR helps no one. If you hate it so much, just leave. If you want to make it better, stay and act like an adult.

FYI to anyone just tuning in, we have a Feedback category in the support form and submitting there is like a firehose directly to our developers and designers. (Please of course be mindful of signal to noise, I know a firehose is tempting to abuse, but again the more nonconstructive feedback we get, the harder it is to see the constructive feedback.)
everyone’s saying it but yeah the new tumblr desktop layout is complete garbage lmao
yknow what i really can’t fucking stand. how every social media now feels like it’s designed for mobile first but then subsequently there is NO design for desktop and they just kinda slap a mobile interface onto a widescreen canvas and fill it with a solid color. like why is what feels like 60% of my dashboard just negative space on a 16:9 monitor. the entire thing is so fucking claustrophobic and just bunched together. use the space!!!! why are the timeline switcher tabs at the top of the screen getting cut off!!! you could fit all of them!!!

After shoving Hansel in the oven, the witch turns to Gretel - who is currently fending the witch off with a gingerbread chair - and says:
“I can’t believe you thought a trail of breadcrumbs would save you. I mean, honestly, this is a forest! It’s full of animals. Honestly, the very idea that a dumb shit like you thought you could get the better of me is absurd.”
Gretel hits her in the face with said chair. To be fair to the witch, she takes the chairshot like a champ.
“Ow!”
“Did you know,” says Gretel, “that crows are capable of facial recognition?”
“Eh?” Says the witch, clambering to her feet and pulling a candy cane sledgehammer off the wall. “What’s that got to do with anything?”
“Not only that,” Gretel continues, “but they can remember both friends and enemies. And they’ll often follow people they remember as friends.”
The two fence with their sugared weapons for a moment, before the witch knocks the chair out of Gretel’s hands.
“Enough with the bird facts! Honestly, this whole attempted escape has been utter clownshoes. Get in the fucking oven!”
She seizes Gretel by the collar. Gretel immediately sandbags, letting her whole body go limp. This eminently practical defense forces the witch to try and deadlift her. Which is hard, as the witch often skips leg day.
“For example,” Gretel says, as the witch struggles and grunts, “if you feed crows a lot of breadcrumbs, they’ll probably start to see you as a friend and follow you in the hope of more food.”
The witch stops. Outside, she hears the thunder of wings.
“They’ll even bring you shiny things they find as presents!” Says Gretel, as a corner of the gingerbread ceiling is suddenly cut away by a large crow with a knife in its mouth.
“Oh shitballs.” Says the witch, as the crows descend. “I hope you know this is a great unkindness.”
